Why choose this training?
The “sweet spot” of yoga qualifications
This course is designed for dedicated practitioners ready to turn their passion into a confident teaching career. It strikes the perfect balance: delivering significantly more depth, individualization, and practical skill than a minimal 200-hour introductory course, while giving you the credentials to start teaching as soon as possible. It also serves as an ideal stepping stone should you wish to pursue a 500-hour diploma in the future.
The in-person advantage
Online courses can only take you so far. Our 180 guided contact hours are delivered across 12 weekends at Pippbrook House in central Dorking. Face-to-face instruction ensures you receive real-time feedback, hands-on practice, and deep connection with your tutors and cohort—delivering an uncompromised quality of learning at an accessible price.
An authentic lineage
TSYP is one of the few organizations in the UK offering training rooted directly in the teachings of T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar.
Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, this tradition honours the unique needs of the individual. Throughout the course, you will explore:
- Breath-Centric Āsana: Understanding movement led by the breath to promote holistic well-being.
- Prāṇāyāma and Sound: Using breath refinement and sacred sound to deepen focus and practice.
- Yoga Philosophy: Bringing the timeless wisdom of Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras into modern daily life and teaching.
- Individual and Group Teaching: Learning the tools to design safe, effective sessions for both general groups and individual students.
Experienced leadership and mentorship support
Taught by experienced practitioners
You will be guided throughout by Michelle Tarling (Lead Tutor) and Christina Jones, alongside guest specialists. With decades of combined teaching experience, they bring deep clarity, warmth, and practical wisdom to every weekend module.
Dedicated mentorship
Personal support is central to our tradition. While studying, you will be encouraged and fully supported by TSYP to connect with an experienced mentor from within our teacher network. Your mentor will provide 1:1 guidance, help you refine your personal practice, and offer constructive feedback as you begin teaching.
