Course options
The course can be taken:
- As preparation for the TSYP Diploma in Yoga Therapy starting September 2027. If accepted for the Diploma, your full Pathway course fee will be credited toward your Diploma tuition fee.
- As individual days or as the complete course to earn CPD credits, with no obligation to proceed to full yoga therapy training.

Syllabus
Each in-person day begins with a faculty-led yoga practice, followed by a morning dedicated to core theory covering the topics below. The afternoons focus on practical exploration and application.
- Comparing the goals of yoga with the goals of yoga therapy.
- Understanding different stages of yoga practice.
- Classification of āsana by form and function.
- Breathing principles:
- Ways of breathing
- Identifying and correcting dysfunctional breathing patterns
- Establishing baseline breath capacity
- Breath retention (kumbhaka)
- Breathing ratios
- Coordinating breath and movement in āsana:
- Breath-initiated movement
- Moving inside the breath
- Applying krama breathing in āsana
- Principles of vinyāsa krama (intelligent arrangement of steps, or sequencing):
- For individual āsana
- For individual practice sessions (combining postures)
- To reach long-term goals
- By orientation
- Dynamic versus static postures
- Varying the energetic effects of a practice.
- Prāṇāyāma:
- Specific techniques
- Using āsana as preparation for prāṇāyāma.
- Applying bandha-s and understanding contraindications.
- Progressing from gross physical movement to subtle breath and mental focus (connecting body, breath, and mind).
- Incorporating visualisation (bhāvanā), nyasa, and sound into āsana practice.
- Transitioning from group teaching to individualised adaptation.
- Principles of adapting yoga to the individual:
- Prioritising function over form
- Applying relative alignment
- Modifying individual āsana-s.
- Safety considerations and contraindications across various yoga techniques and tools.
